I’ve read some lists of the hotels that are the most accepting of pets, but they lack some other important qualities I look for when booking a trip. Besides demanding that my pet be a welcome guest too, the price of the hotel must be within my budget, and the quality must be acceptable to me. Unfortunately, articles which have already been written about this topic do not provide these essentials; the hotels are either prohibitively expensive, or the information given is too vague and not specific enough. My list names specific hotels in major cities in the U.S. I was looking for the following items when researching my hotels: price, quality, rating, distance from city center, and naturally the welcome mat for the pets. Keep in mind that many of these hotels may charge a deposit for a pet.
San Francisco, CA
The Beresford Arms Hotel in the Union Square District of San Francisco is within walking distance of Chinatown. It boasts an elegant interior, but is the most reasonably priced even in springtime.
Napa Valley, CA
Three Palms Napa Valley is conveniently situated. Not only is your furry companion welcome, but free parking is available to those of you who wish to take a road trip through California. While not inexpensive, Three Palms was still the most reasonably priced for stylish and clean accommodations.
New Orleans, LA
The Hotel Modern New Orleans is not only bright and lively, but it is also less than a mile away from the French Quarter. This means you can take your dog along with you on a morning walk to Bourbon Street to grab a beignet and a cup of Café du Monde.
Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Westin in Fort Lauderdale has been newly renovated, but they still want you to bring your fur-baby! This sparkling clean hotel is located near the beaches and Palm Aire Golf and Country Club. Free parking is available, and should you choose the breakfast option, you won’t be disappointed.
The Ohio House Motel is located in downtown Chicago, and is in the city center, and within walking distance to the Navy Pier. While it may not be the most luxurious places to stay, it will be adequate enough for your pet. For an expensive city, this little motel is priced affordably even with the amenities it offers.
The Aloft in Minneapolis is within walking distance from popular tourist attractions. This hotel is an appealing option not only for its free parking and fitness center, but also because it is economical.
The Residence Inn is located near the University of Colorado. If you are not feeling up to enjoying the beautiful city of Boulder, you can use the fitness room after eating from the varied spread at the breakfast buffet. This is a nicely equipped and furnished hotel, but one of the best values in Boulder.
Let’s face it—Seattle is an expensive city for hotel stays. However, Belltown Inn has been rated the best value in this trendy city, especially for its top-notch location. Oh, and of course your canine cohort will be shown the same hospitality.
Not only will you not break the bank with the Jupiter Hotel, you will also be within five minutes driving distance of downtown Portland. The building is very modish, and environmentally-friendly bath products are offered in every room.
La Quinta Inn and Suites is about a four-minute walk from the beach and Cape Henry Lighthouse is a 15 minute drive away. On-site amenities include a fitness center and free parking. While the price will most likely go over a hundred bucks per night, this pet-friendly hotel has been rated one of the best values in Virginia Beach, especially for its quality and features.
